Parish Confirmation 2017

“Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” says the Bishop or priests to the 140 young adults who received the Sacrament of Confirmation in our parish last August 15, 2017 in Honor of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Prior to the Confirmation, we had seminars and confessions as preparation in receiving the sacrament. 13 of the confirmands had their Adult Baptism last August 11 in our parish. The Confirmation Mass was presided by Archbishop Antonio J. Ledesma, SJ, DD and assisted by our Parish Priest, Fr. Froilan R. A. Briones, SSS.

Confirmation 2017

In the Book of Isaiah 11:2-3, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are described. In the passage the gifts are considered ones that the Messiah would have possessed. Through Jesus, we receive the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation.

1. WISDOM
– helps us recognize the importance of others and the importance of keeping God central in our lives.

2. UNDERSTANDING
– is the ability to comprehend the meaning of God’s message.

3. KNOWLEDGE
– is the ability to think about and explore God’s revelation, and also to recognize there are mysteries of faith beyond us.

4. COUNSEL
– is the ability to see the best way to follow God’s plan when we have choices that relate to him.

5. FORTITUDE
– is the courage to do what one knows is right.

6. PIETY
– helps us pray to God in true devotion.

7. FEAR OF THE LORD
– is the feeling of amazement before God, who is all-present, and whose friendship we do not want to lose.

We thank our Area Coordinators and Parish Catechists who prepared our Confirmands.
