One way to lead God’s people to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, Santuario Eucaristico has outreach programs which serve the needs of the community, especially the poor and the weak, in a meaningful way. At present, programs being implemented through the Parish Service Committee are the Feeding Program, the Medico-Dental Mission, and the recently launched Blood Donation Program which incorporates the Community Health Program and Rice Distribution Program.

Started last 2011 before Typhoon Sendong devastated Cagayan de Oro City, the feeding program initially served the indigent people living under the Maharlika Bridge which is located near the Shrine. Mrs. Norma Serada is in charge of preparing the food to be served while Mrs. Lolita “Ling” Buzon is in charge of distributing the food together with the volunteers and workers of San Roque Chapel in Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, one of the chapels under the Shrine’s jurisdiction.

Currently, beneficiaries of the program includes the indigents living near the Shrine and street people since most of the residents living under the Maharlika Bridge which homes were destroyed by Typhoon Sendong are now relocated in different areas of the city. However, some of them still goes to the Shrine at 11 A.M. every 2nd Friday to avail of the free lunch. Most beneficiaries are children and families. Donors are the parishioners and other kind hearted individuals who donate in cash or in kind. One hundred individuals benefit the feeding program of the Shrine.

Originally, the Feeding Program was scheduled every 3rd Friday of the month but was changed to 2nd Friday so that beneficiaries can also avail of the other program of the Shrine which is the Medical and Dental Clinic.

The Medical and Dental Mission is spearheaded by DrEdna Shiela B. Eugenio of the Department of Health who is also an active officer of the Shrine as the Assistant Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Chair and supported by other medical doctors and nurses who voluntarily serve and offer their services for free. Among the services made available are free consultations and check up as well as free medicines.

The Medical and Dental Mission starts after the Healing Mass at 8 A.M. then followed at 11 A.M. with the Feeding Program every 2nd Friday of the month.
