Way back Twelve years ago, the youth in the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro had its first Archdiocesan Youth Day in 2014 and this year, the 7th AYD will be on October 27-29, 2016 at Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish, Gingoog City. In relevance to this upcoming event, the AYD Cross pilgrimage has started its journey to the Vicariates of Cagayan de Oro and last September 4, the Holy Cross visits Santuario Eucaristico – Sacred Heart Parish.

The AYD Cross stayed in San Isidro Labrador Parish – Eco Church last September 3, 2016. At 3:00PM, the next day, they transferred the cross to Santuario Eucaristico – Sacred Parish where the Youth together with their Spiritual Director Bro. Mark Pangilinan and the Parish Priest Fr. Froilan Renato Briones joyfully welcomed the cross and conducted the Rite of Acceptance.

After the last Eucharistic Mass in the evening, the youth gathered for the Cross Visit activities and vigil before turning the cross over to the next parish. The activity started at 8:45pm with an opening prayer followed by an orientation on what is Archdiocesan Youth Day by the Youth Animator, Jessica Sarah Palacio. A meaningful talk about the Eucharist was then given by their Spiritual Director, Bro. Mark who emphasized that the youth must deeply know the essence and meaning of the Eucharist and that they must strive to be good examples to the other youth today. After the talk, three of our representatives from the recent CABUSTAM (CAGAYAN, BUTUAN, SURIGAO, TANDAG AND MALAYBALAY) Youth Congress last April 7-10, 2016 gave reflections about their experiences and learning. They’ve all encourage their fellow youth to do best in caring for our common home as the Encyclical Letter of the Holy Father, Laudato Si’ states and to persevere in inspiring other youth to be good examples to other and also join in the ministry.
